Horticulture Program at Providence Center in Arnold, MD

The horticulture program at Providence Center provides vocational training for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a working nursery. The adults we support on our team of growers are continuously gaining in-depth knowledge of horticulture and are building the valuable professional skills necessary for community employment. Not only are the people in our horticulture program learning how to grow and sustain beautiful plants native to Maryland, but they are also developing their own skills and personal goals in the process.

To learn more about Providence Center’s horticulture program, contact Nathan Ullrich in our Horticulture Department by calling (410) 766-2212 ext. 432 or emailing nullrich@providencecenter.com today.

Horticulture Program at Providence Center in Arnold, MD

Residential Plant Services in Maryland

Our budding horticulture program operates out of our Greenhouse and Gardens, providing seasonal plants and a large selection of native plants for sale, including wetland grasses. Due to the fact that our products are grown using integrated pest management—which limits the use of any pesticides—you can be sure that your plant purchases will benefit the world around you as well as the individuals we support.

The horticulture program at Providence Center’s Greenhouse and Gardens offers butterfly gardens and rain gardens in addition to our other plants so that you can make your yard brighter and more colorful during any season. We also sell Christmas trees and a variety of holiday decorations to make the most wonderful time of the year even better! (Be sure to get your orders in by November 23rd to receive a 10% discount.)

Environmental Restoration in the Chesapeake Bay Region

As members of our wetlands program, the people on our horticulture team are contributing to our community through important environmental restoration projects, including the rebuilding of Poplar Island in the Chesapeake Bay. By participating in our horticulture program, the individuals at Providence Center are learning how to better themselves while making the environment a greener, happier place.

In partnership with the Magothy River Association and Anne Arundel Community College, our wetlands program also offers floating gardens to help Maryland homeowners enhance their waterfront and clean our local waterways. Through their work, the adults we support at Providence Center’s Greenhouse and Gardens bring joy to both our neighbors and the earth as whole.
