An Important Announcement from the Board of Directors

Dear Members of the Providence and Charles County HARC Families,  

The Boards of Directors of Providence of Maryland, Inc. (Providence) and Charles County HARC (CCHARC) are pleased to announce that beginning February 15, 2023, CCHARC is now operating as an affiliate of Providence. This affiliation is the first step in an integration period to fully merge and consolidate CCHARC into Providence.   

An affiliation and eventual merger provides Providence the opportunity to expand its supports into a new community and adds experienced residential supports to its service array. The CCHARC family will benefit from the resources and structure of a larger organization. Most importantly, an affiliation and eventual merger advances the overall shared mission of both organizations – to support people to live their best lives in their communities.  

We are also pleased to announce that as of today, Providence President and CEO Karen Adams-Gilchrist has been named president and CEO of its affiliate organization, and Joan Miller, chief financial officer of Providence, has been named CFO of its affiliate organization. I want to thank Linda Thomas, former acting executive director of CCHARC, and Gary Badgley, former CCHARC board president, for their guidance and help during our due diligence period. Both Gary and Linda will continue to provide important support in the coming months.  

CCHARC will now operate under the Providence name, and you can continue to count on the same quality supports provided by both organizations for more than 60 years.
