Providence Center’s Horticulture Program is in Bloom

Maryland spring has been in full bloom, and our horticulture growers here at Providence Center are busy as can be in our full-scale nursery. Warmer weather brings a vibrant and varied myriad of gorgeous greenery, from perennials to floating gardens, and we’re excited to share them with you!

Our Horticulture Program provides an excellent, creative outlet for our participants to learn and grow their skills and contribute to our community.

Providence Center strives to provide the greatest possible supports for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and our Horticulture Program is one of many programs that are shaping lives and creating futures for those we serve.

Support Growth at Providence Center this Season

It is the pleasure of our horticulture team to meet our community’s horticulture needs year-round. Our plant options provide you with a gorgeous display of robust, colorful flowers and shrubs to beautify your own home, or the community as a whole. We supply floating gardens and wetland grasses to clean our local waterways and stabilize our shorelines.

Supporting our Horticulture Program not only allows an impact to be made on our community, it builds important job skills and provides opportunities for those we serve to make their own mark on the world around us.

Horticulture Products and Details

We are currently offering a broad variety of plants and options to suit your gardening and horticulture needs, including:

  • Spring to fall annuals. These are available in 6-inch pots or 10-inch hanging baskets.
  • Native and ornamental perennials. Available in 6-inch up to three gallon pots.
  • Native shoreline and prairie restoration plants. As part of our environmental restoration program, these are available in wholesale and retail sizes ranging from 2-inch planter plugs to 1-gallon pots.
  • Floating gardens. Floating gardens provide a filter for our waterways, improving and protecting our Maryland environment. Our floating gardens are available on platforms built by our growers, or in the form of a starter kit for more “hands on” individuals.

Our greenhouses are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Those seeking further details can contact Nathan Ullrich at nullrich@providencecenter.com.
