About the Studio

Providence Center’s Pottery Studio in Arnold, Maryland has been in operation for over 40 years and focuses on producing regionally themed and functional pottery. Our pottery line is sold at gift shops and galleries along the East Coast.

Our studio also offers paint-your-own pottery events and pottery classes. All proceeds from our pottery studio go back to support Providence Center’s mission.

Pottery Classes in Anne Arundel County

We offer wheel throwing and hand-building pottery classes for students of all skill levels. Our classes are offered in six-week sessions, however, we offer a one-time “try it out” session for those who aren’t ready to commit to a six-week class. Classes are for adults only (16 & up) unless otherwise specified in our class schedule. Spring, summer, fall and winter sessions available.

Paint Your Own Pottery

We offer several options for local pottery painting parties. These include pottery to-go kits for at home parties, and adult parties and groups in studio.

“Pottery Party To Go” Take-Home Bins

Our pottery to-go packages include a bin full of everything needed to have a pottery party at home. This includes pieces of pottery, glaze, brushes, and instructions. Simply return the bin and pottery after your party and receive your fired pottery one week later.

Adult Pottery Parties & Groups

Celebrate a birthday, shower, retirement, or just have a fun girls night out with a pottery painting party! BYOB and favorite snack.

All adult parties include:

• Exclusive use of our studio for 8-20 painters for 2 hours.
• Expert guidance from our staff artist(s).
• Breakage waiver – We won’t charge you if a piece is accidentally broken during the party.
• Cleanup services – We’ll take care of the mess, during and after your event, so you can relax and enjoy the party.
• Glazing and firing of pottery pieces.
• Tracking – We’ll track who painted what so you don’t have to worry when it comes time to pick up the finished pottery.
• Wrapped and ready pickup – We’ll have each piece wrapped, bagged and ready to pick up on your scheduled pick up date, typically within 7-14 days.

$10 studio fee per painter plus the cost of pottery, which ranges from $4- $40.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon will my pottery be ready to pick up?
For parties, pottery will be ready for pick up 7-14 days after your event on your scheduled pickup date.

For pottery classes, pottery will be ready 2-3 weeks after the final class session. All completed work must be picked up 60 days after the final class session.

Do you have walk-in hours?
Yes. Our Studio is open Monday-Friday 9AM-4PM.

Is the pottery food safe?
Yes. All of our clay and glazes are non-toxic and finished pottery is food-safe.

Who are your instructors?
For parties, 1-3 trained staff artists will be present during your paint your own pottery event to help with set-up, instruction, and clean-up.

Our pottery class instructors are professional local ceramic artists who have extensive experience in the ceramic arts. They can’t wait to share their pottery knowledge with you!

What is your cancellation policy?
A $50 deposit will be required when reserving a pottery class or party. For your deposit to be fully refunded, we require a 24-hour cancellation notice for our single session pottery classes and 7-day cancellation notice for our 4-week classes, 6 week classes, and paint your own pottery events. Please give us as much notice as possible when cancelling a party or your spot in one of our classes so that we can offer it to someone else.
